Governance & Accountability

What Matters is sustained by CO-LAB for Future Economics, headquartered in Vienna, and its registered branch COLAB for Future Economics in South Africa.

Governance is anchored at the CO-LAB level through formal Governance Frameworks designed to protect mission integrity, community trust, and long-term regenerative impact.

Each legal entity operates under an adapted governance structure appropriate to its jurisdiction and organisational form, while remaining aligned in philosophy, ethical standards, and decision-making principles.

Our governance model is:

➝ Founder-led and mission-first
➝ Community-anchored in decision-making
➝ Donor-aware but donor-independent
➝ Guided by applicable legal frameworks (including the South African NPO Act and the principles of King IV)
➝ Supported by clear policies on ethics, conflicts of interest, financial management, risk, and partnerships

Detailed governance documents are available upon request for institutional partners and funders.
